The hospitality industry has been hugely affected by the COVID-19 lockdown, and Coca-Cola is here to help New Zealand bars and restaurants get back on their feet.
Until October 31, the company is shouting Kiwis their first non-alcoholic drink at participating bars and restaurants across the country through their new programme, The First Coke Is On Us.
Designed to encourage dining out with friends and family, Coca-Cola will take care of the first drink by offering one of their beverages to anyone that registers via text message.
Richard Schlasberg, country manager at Coca-Cola Oceania, explains that the programme is similar to their Designated Driver campaign that has been shouting sober drivers a Coke for the past few years.
“This year, we’re using the same technology to offer Kiwis their first non-alcoholic drink on us at participating bars and restaurants, whether it’s a Coke, Coke No Sugar, Sprite or Schweppes Ginger Beer – right across the country,” says Schlasberg. “We want to help Kiwis visit their local bars, and restaurants, and support the hospitality industry.”
Julie White, chief executive of Hospitality New Zealand, says the initiative will help businesses in the hospitality industry in what has been a difficult year.
“Many operators are diversifying, innovating and changing their operating hours, but it’s been a rollercoaster of a journey so far. The amazing support from our local hospitality communities and incredible initiatives like this from Coca-Cola supporting our revive and thrive strategy go a long way.”
